You have to eat, so you have to cook. Why not make it worthwhile . . . ?

This Month's Distraction

This is where I will talk about and generally exhaust every possible avenue of a specific type of food that I'm either learning to cook or attempting to refine.

Bread . . . the stuff of life. It's as old as the hills and can be as good as anything you've ever eaten. It can also be hideous.
This month I'm finally going to make bread - as many types and styles that I can. (This could go on a while.)
I'll start with a generic white sandwich bread since this is what my kids are used to. The most likely, I'll move to whole wheat, baguettes, semolina, multi-grain, etc. As I said, this could go on a while.
For the most part, I'll be using Rose Levy's "Bread Bible" as an accomplice.

Holiday's Make Me Crazy

The Holidays are always a let down. I'm going to make a gallant effort to try and remedy that so that I never spend another holiday dissappointed in my ambition and lack of hosting a single social occasions. For someone who loves to cook and share, this is unexcusable.

"You forgot the drinks again Mom"

I always forget the drinks. This will be my attempt at remembering them in concrete terms.

What do you consider 'cooking'?
